Mental Health - Growing Health Teens

Coast Community Connections' Evolution Youth Service is hosting two sessions for parents of young people to gain more awareness of mental health.

A vital part of talking to young people about mental health is helping them to develop an awareness of how they can express their feelings. As parents, we need to better understand the emotional
motivations behind their actions, as this is the key to better understanding mental health and wellbeing.

Headspace Gosford will present to attendees with information about mental health wellbeing.

Date: Wednesday 24 October 2018
Times: 10am or 7pm session

Tuning into Teens - Free parenting program

Coast Community Connections will be hosting a five-session parenting program called Tuning in to Teens. Presented by Uniting’s Reconnecting Parents and Adolescent Team (RAPT) this program is designed for parents of adolescents aged between 10 and 18 years with sessions to be held every Thursday from 18 October to 15 November 2018 at the Peninsula Community Centre.

The Tuning in to Teens program aims to equip parents with the skills to take a more emotionally intelligent approach to parenting, as well as giving parents the knowledge to help their teens develop emotional intelligence for themselves.

The sessions will teach parents valuable emotional coaching skills allowing them to develop a better understanding of their teen as well as help their teen learn to effectively manage their emotions and deal with conflict.
