Gambling Solutions experiencing increased demand across the Coast
On the back of recent reviews of gaming machine spend on the Central Coast, Coast Community Connections’ free gambling counselling service, Gambling Solutions, confirms that it is experiencing an increase in demand for its services each and every day.
A recent NSW Government report identified the Central Coast and specifically the Peninsula area as having “a high gambling risk” and Gambling Solutions, funded by the Responsible Gambling Fund, has doubled its support staff in the last two years.
Minister launches Coast Community Connections Youth Program
Minister for Multiculturalism The Hon. Ray Williams MP today visited Coast Community Connections’ Evolution Youth Services to launch a special program funded by the NSW Government’s Youth Opportunities Program.
The Youth Opportunities Program provides grants to organisations to deliver youth-led and youth-driven community projects that have a positive development focus on the community.
Minister Williams officially launched the not for profit organisation’s new Teen Mental Health First Aid Training Project, which will see the introduction of a program for years 10, 11 and 12 students to support them to recognise the signs of mental health problems.
Coast Community Connections was successful under the 2016 Youth Opportunities Program funding and developed this project as a result of a survey completed by 700 local young people, in which 80 per cent recognised the need for improved information on mental health issues.
Home Maintenance Checklist
Coast Community Connections Ageing & Disability Services runs a dedicated Home Maintenance service for locals aged over 65.
The Home Maintenance services are designed to provide maintenance and repair of the home, garden or yard that is necessary for the safety, security and/or well being of the residents. Home Maintenance services can not always be provided in an emergency, so it is important to consistently check for items that need addressing as they happen.
